Rob's Escape Upgrades

Purchased my first upgrades on Thursday, Aug. 28th, 2002 from fordaccessories.com.  They were delivered about 2 weeks after the order.  This is what I got:

bullet

Ford Moonroof Deflector ($37.00):
I'm tall and my head is close to the moonroof when I drive.  This should help with wind noise and buffeting.

bullet

Ford Bug Shield ($86.00):
I already have a few nicks on my hood from rocks being kicked up by vehicles in front of me.  Hopefully this will protect the hood paint.

bullet

Ford Receiver Hitch Cover - Black Plastic ($14.00):
Just want to clean up the rear of the truck and hopefully keep the hitch interior from rusting.

bullet

Door Edge Guards - Black Metal ($45.00):
I want to protect the door edges.  I know I'm careful when I open my doors, but wind can whip a door open or passengers might not care as much as I do.  Don't know why these were so expensive.  Probably could have gotten much cheaper at Pep-Boys, but wanted Ford recommended parts for protection of truck

bullet

Stainless Steel Scuff Plates - Front and Rear ($90.00):
I just plain like the look of these scuff plates plus they offer more protection.

As you can see, most these first upgrades are basically to protect the Escape and it's paint..  Click on the upgrade to go to photos and descriptions of my installation experiences.

These are some of the other upgrades I am thinking about...

bullet

Ford Mud Flaps - want ones that will match the lower cladding color

bullet

Side Window Deflectors

bullet

Auto Dim rear view mirror with compass and outside temp.

bullet

Upgrade Front Brake Pads to Raybestos PG Plus (Part #: PGD843M).  I've read on the escape-central web site that these pads are very good at minimizing the front wheel brake dust issues.

bullet

Upgrade speakers and/or possibly add a sub-woofer so door speakers won't have to handle the bass.  I find that songs with heavy bass make the mirrors vibrate.

bullet

K&N Air Filter or Comparable

bullet

Shorter Radio Antenna

bullet

Duel Exhaust

There will be more.  As I add items, I plan to make updates and take photos of the installation experiences and keep a record of costs and research.
